Group Hike at Sam McDonald Park

You’re invited to a special guided hike by Sempervirens Fund, a local nonprofit that protects redwood forests in the Santa Cruz Mountains, preserves the plants and animals that make them home, and restores the balance of nature.

Join us on Friday, November 21, for a 5-mile hike through Sam McDonald Park. Together, we’ll journey beneath redwoods and Douglas-firs, explore the landscape, and take in scenic views. Along the way, we’ll discuss the park’s ecology, the importance of redwoods, and how Sempervirens Fund is working to ensure redwoods thrive for generations to come. We will also take some time to stop and identify nearby plants.

This hike is perfect for nature lovers and anyone eager to connect with the beauty of redwood forest. Expect moderate terrain, peaceful forest trails, and inspiring moments surrounded by nature. Please note that there will be a 900’ climb during one portion of this hike, however as a group we will take frequent breaks.

To join this group hike, all participants are asked to complete a short, mandatory liability waiver.

• Heritage Grove Tail – Difficulty: Moderate

• East Brook Trail – Difficulty: Moderate
